Something new...

The concept of magic has long held the attention of dreamers, writers, and poets alike. Countless have dreamed of being able to control the world around them, to shake the heavens, or just to bring a loved one back from the beyond. They believe that magic is a benevolent force, which only exists to bring light to the world, and allow them to live a happy ever after.

If only they knew…

The truth of the matter is, Magic can work in any way it chooses, it all depends on how those small few who can tame it, utilize its power.

In the beginning, magic was a force for good, used to protect and help the world. And those who could command it were revered as gods: like the Olympians, or Odin and his court. But, as in the case in every history, power and fame, soon turned to corruption. Mountains exploded, cities burned, countless innocent lives were destroyed in pursuit of more power.

Those ancients who still followed the path of good knew that there had to be a force to keep the balance, someone to stop the darkness and protect the weak.

They drew on all of their ancient knowledge, and selected a few bloodlines, each known for their intelligence, power, honor, or their great kindness. And transformed them into something new, they were called "Keepers". They were tasked with ensuring that the balance between the world of magic, and the human realm was kept, and that the two sides would never cross.

Through the efforts of the ancients, keepers were scattered through time itself, and soon the forces of dark were sealed away, and to ensure that the darkness was always guarded, the Ancients gifted the Keepers with a great power.
Humans are restricted by the rules of mortality, when fate comes to call; they are bound to answer the Reaper's summons. But the Keepers, being born from magic, are freed from these bonds. If a Keeper is struck down, then, like the Phoenix, they will simply "Burn" into a form of pure magical energy, and then be reborn from the energy. Same body, same age, and the same soul. But after millennia of this, they have learned to control it, and can even change themselves if they so wish.

And who am I you ask?

I come from one of the original lines of the Keepers; I have witnessed the rise and fall of countless situations and alongside my family, I have kept darkness at bay, as is my sworn duty. I know a truth that all humans refuse to believe out of fear.
